About 2 billion of euros commercial exchanges between France and Tunisia Print

Since 2006, commercial exchanges of textile and apparel between France and Tunisia have begun to increase again. Having reached 1,7 billion of euros in 2006, they should come close to 2 billion of euros in 2007, according to the UIT, the UFIH and the Fenatex, which also stressed the relevance and the effectiveness of preferential exchanges. Lucien Deveaux, president of the UIT, reminded Tunisia of the importance of co-contracting (instead of subcontracting).

Monastir El Fejja cluster to begin in 2008 Print

According to the Monastir El Fejja competitiveness cluster project, the Monastir Technopark should host production and services activities, in particular clothing, spinning, weaving, embroidery, mesh, apparel... El Fejja industrial estate (50 ha) should be dedicated to finishing (160 millions of m2 fabrics). Both structures should be supported by the In'Tex partners network (industry, research, training), which should contribute to research, innovation, production, services, technology and strategic watch... More than 35 prospective national partners have already been identified.
Mfcpole firm has begun a big communication campaign at national and international level and has had several surveys made. Building works should begin in 2008, the first stage of the technopark should end in 2009, followed by the project of a 30 000 m3 per day purification plant. Mfcpole should soon seek investors to reach 10 MD assets. By 2020, Monastir El Fejja cluster should employ about 15 000 people, host about 170 businesses, with 750 MD investment.
Moreover, the partnership between the Monastir Technopark and the French competitiveness cluster Up-Tex has been strengthened recently, with the creation of an action plan.

The Sitex overtaking its target Print

The Sitex (Société industrielle des textiles) assumed on May 31st 2007 that its production had increased by 58% and that its turnover had reached 33,4 MDT (as opposed to 23,2 MDT on the same period last year). Export had grown by 50% and local sales by 6%. The Sitex would then have overtaken its target with a rising result (over 0,5 MDT) according to provisional figures.
