Aïn Cheggag leather industrial estate project Print

On a visit to Fes, the Minister of Industry has stated that he would support the leather industrial estate project (50 hectares of industrial estate for leather industrials), as a local extension of the Emergence Plan.

Local authorities will market it and offer investors customs facilities to set up sourcing and export platforms. The government will support 20% of investments beyond 200 million of dirhams (partial financing of land and construction for new projects and extension projects in the textile and leather sector; creation of industrial estate dedicated to tanning).

The leather industrial project has been initiated by the Ministry of Industry, the UNIDO and local leather industrials.

German masculine high range ready-to-wear group Hugo Boss has invested DH 150 million to open a franchise in Casablanca (rue Oumaima Essayeh, Bd El Massira El Khadra). A young Moroccan has been in charge of the interior design in a Hispano-Moorish style.

Nowadays there are few specialized masculine ready-to-wear shops in Morocco but the market seems to emerge and could even be buoyant according to some international brands.

Rafael Dorian, winner of Caftan 2008 young talent contest Print

8 designers, which had been short-listed, were given the opportunity to present their collections in front of fashion and design professionals, among which Aïcha Zaimi Sakhri, Marie-Christine Marek, Rachida Alaoui, Rachid Andalousi and Mohamed Sairi. Contestants of this high-quality fashion show: Salma Elouazzani Chahdi, Rafael Dorian, Kaoutar Laasmi, Fatna Farkh, Nardjes Bensaad, Rkia Aït Blal, Nouzha Biyjeddiguen et Amel Alaoui.

Rafael Dorian won the competition with his collection inspired by the 1920's. He will take part in Caftan 2008 fashion show on 'Glam'rock', with Dahab Ben Aboud, Madiha Bennani, Réda Boukhlef et Meriem Benamour pour Mahe-Mi, Amina Boussayri, Maria Chahdi Ouazzani, Nabil Dahani, Ihsane Ghailane, Simohamed Lakhdar, Zineb Lyoubi Idrissi and Abdelhanine Raouh.
