For Beijing Olympic Games 2008, the Italian and the Irish teams have worn high tech apparel designed by Tecnofilati and its partners: Slam R&D and the Politecnico Milano.
Studying movements of sailors, critical points and weather conditions in Asia, they have set up the “ Area 51 limited edition” collection and its " Resistex Carbon" and " Resistex Silver" brands. The main aims were to allow the greatest body movement freedom, to protect athletes from the sunlight, to lessen the feeling of heat, to bring bacteriostatic and anallergic properties...

As a place of training, research, design, culture and business support, Milan Fashion Institute is a majour project of Porta Nuova.
Based on an original idea of Nicola Trussardi, the Fashion Institute should open by 2011.
Project partners: Italian Fashion Chamber (regarding training, research and cultural initiatives), IULM, Politecnico Milano school, Bocconi University...

For its second edition, the Fashion incubator has welcomed 6 young designers: Andrès Caballero (San Andrès) ; Gilda Giambra
; Chicca Lualdi (Bee Queen) ; Elena Pignata and Valentina Vizio (a. Ve -
ante vesperum edicta) ; Federico Sangalli, Fabio Sasso and Juan Caro
(Leitmotiv).
Their creations will be shown in September in the New Upcoming Designers section of Milan fashion week. Later, they will travel to Japan and the USA.
