After Bioshoe (biodegradable shoe) and ActiveShoe (shoe that adapts to changes in temperature, humidity, smell...), the CEC has created SnapShoe - SeamlessShoe, with very little seams so as to reduce production costs. Lining is made very early, whereas heels can be customized thanks to the automatic carding technology by CEI. Some businesses have begun to experiment the SnapShoe innovation, for instance Ecco for its Shark model.
SnapShoe has been invented within the framework of the European CEC-made-shoe project (Custom, Environment and Comfort made shoe), involving public and private bodies from Italy (CNR, Centro Servizi Calzaturiero, Calzaturificio Frau, Officine Meccaniche Molina e Bianchi, String, Dow Italia, Pakerson Industrie Calzature Fiorentine, Tecnica, Filanto, Future Concept Lab, Calzaturificio Manas, Formicio Milanese Team, Technology Transfer System, Comelz), Portugal (CTCP, INESC Porto, CEI, Lima & Resende, Polo de Inovaçao em Engenharia de Polameros, Simala - Industria de Compostos), France (CTC), Spain, Greece, Germany, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Slovenia, Sweden, Finland and Poland.
