The textile research and industrial cooperation institute of Catalunya Polytechnic University has designed an innovative technology to produce textile nanofibres, that is to say fibres with completely different properties than the ones of the original material (stainless, controlling temperature...).
The team responsible for this project expects to find a commercial partner to market this technology till 2015. A prototype will be shown at the Man-made Fibers Congress (Dornbirn, Austria) in September. Sound-proofing nanofibres Researchers from Valencia Polytechnic University have been working on new textile materials (thin nanofibres) to reduce loss of floor space related to sound-proofing. The first prototypes have had good results. Possible applications include building and transportation. Sources: Información July 16th 2008, La Vanguardia July 14th 2008 |
