A l'heure où la première unité de production de soie en Tunisie sort du cocon, le Bureau Virtuel de Tendances consacre son focus culturel aux nombreuses étoffes qui ont jalonné l'histoire méditerranéenne. Mystérieuse "laine des arbres" venue de l'Orient lointain, la soie a tissé sa toile à l'âge d'or de Byzance avant de faire la renommée des ateliers d'Almeria en Espagne et d'habiller les notables italiens. Çatma, kadife ou velours de Brousse ont inspiré le velours ciselé puis les velours "parterre" ou "jardinière", fleurons de l'artisanat gênois. Une page d'histoire culturelle à rouvrir sur le Bureau

Cultural NGO Silex has been created at the beginning of 2008 to promote young artistic talents in Lebanon in the fields of fashion, design, graphic arts, litterature, music... Every two years, a selection committee will choose the most noteworthy project and help the artist make it come true. The first prizewinner is the illustrator Joëlle Achkar, former Alba student.
